Sam Poder
👋 G'day! My name is Sam. I'm an Australian who grew up in Singapore; nowadays, I live in California. I'm learning all about computers and languages at Berkeley. Hack yeah!
I enjoy making things (mostly involving code), playing soccer, running hackathons and adventuring on public transit.
Here are a couple of projects I'm proud of:
🏦 Open source, transparency-orientated fiscal sponsorship platform for hackers & creatives.
🌏 A 4D multimedia experience showcasing the upcoming challenges caused by global warming.
🌁 The behind-the-scenes of the first high school hackathon since the pandemic!
At school, I'm a Head TA for CS70 (Berkeley's discrete mathematics and probability theory class). I also help organise Cal Hacks and research programming languages in the PLAIT Lab.
This summer, I'll be interning at ▲ Vercel in San Francisco. Afterwards I'll be returning to Berkeley to complete a fifth-year Masters in Computer Science.
I work part-time at Ambrook; we build financial tools that enable farms, ranches, and other industrial operations to become more sustainable and profitable. I wrote a blog post about what I worked on over summer - check it out!
And I maintain 🏦 HCB — an open source fiscal sponsorship platform built using Ruby on Rails. We give people the tools they need do incredible things in the real world.
We recently shipped our own version of Expensify!
