The things I do to maintain my streak I got to attend the first GirlGenius Conference today (2200+ people)!! The workshops were amazing! S/o to @sg69926 for doing such an incredible job with GG, and @abby for helping organize this!
Today was pretty relaxed, shipped out more hardware, made an important PR to scrapbook, met my CodeLabs mentor and chatted to the debate team a bit more about tomorrow. I'll leave you some photos from my sunset walk. I really like to architecture of this school...
I forgot to post yesterday, oops.
Anyway, getting menus working in my Undertale engine requires some refactoring in how key events are processed. I took a short break from that and decided to add a function to animate sprites. It's a bit basic, but here's a dog.
The shifting in the GIF is because the frames are all different sizes and that's the best I could do to make it look decent ATM.
Hey everyone, I wrote a blog post for the first time inspired by a tribute from my friend. Could not share link so here are images! I also shared in #ship but I heard people encourage you to send it here too(?) 🙏 💖
Looking forward to learn web development this summer, but at first I need to finish coding my older projects. Finally cleaned-up the code of my meme bot (for Discord) "uwutranslator", written in JS using Node. This project has definitely helped me to start using JS a lot, as this was my very first project "that people actually used it and not for school-only purposes" :D
I won the #osf Hackathon live event today! Shoutout to @winston and the others for putting it all together! Here was my submission for the challenge to build a “spam bot”. It’s an Arduino Leonardo which is recognized as a keyboard and types the word “Spam” a few times a second until unplugged. Now comes the challenge of removing the program without it writing “Spam” in the IDE a million times while it waits to upload new code.
Today I worked on the UI of my CodeLabs project's admin dashboard and fixed a crucial bug, getting close to the finish line! I might even get the admin dashboard done tomorrow
Also loads of hardware grants stuff done, was up super late last night reviewing about 100 applications, but we did it! ✅
But let's not forget my daily piece of art:
Just moved to the basement and figured my mom likes to walk behind me even if I’m on a call. So I wrote this “ON AIR”-styled app to make her aware of my status before she runs into the camera 🙃 (updated by an API endpoint, so I can control it from iOS shortcuts, Zapier, or by yelling at my Alexa)
Over 1 year of hard work and over 6k lines of code i guess i'm done. I guess i can call it an achievement. I've never worked hard like this before on a project in my entire life. Programmed an entire custom OS for this project, faced nightmares , lost hope at some points during the development stage, faced so many challenging problems and i was thinking about leaving it every day but now i'm proud of myself that i didn't quit and finished it. I learned so many things from it and i'm glad that i've made it beyond my potentials and my expectation.
I guess you saw my first post here about my project the interactive cubes, this was my first project i've built in real life. This is my second project bigger than the first one and more complex. A visualization video to visualize how it will looks like in real life is coming soon
The name of the new project is TEKTABLE 👀
Today was the first time I ever used a switch case outside of a programming assignment! Had to refractor the image api I’ve been working on because we added a few more image templates, and vercel functions size limit wouldn’t let it all be uploaded as one
Personally I really 💖 custom emojis on our Slack & I may be working on some improvements to Scrappy to launch today 🛫 @neel.redkar pulled through with a super helpful PR to get it rolling.
If you’d like to help test something else, adding an emoji reaction to this post would be great!
Did some coding, made macaroni & cheese, went for a walk punctuated by a lot of fireworks. Rewatching Schitt’s Creek (again!) to show my sister. Started packing to leave for Vermont on Monday—there’s kind of nothing to do at home but work, cook, & go for long walks, so looking forward to working with the team again.
I was looking thru my old camera roll and found a lot of photos from trips/other stuff that I wanted to post somewhere, so I opened my 6th Instagram account (yes my reaction was also 🥵😬🙄) and I guess I’ll make this into an exercise in scripting to auto post photos, since I don’t really care about growing a social media audience or whatever
so today I had to wipe out all my memory without backing it up and reinstall Linux OS since my computer got stuck in a boot loop. I need to redo my CS hw now (since it wasn't backed up) but I gotta say, ubuntu looking slick
Today's soldering. It's a small power regulator board that will give me multiple positive and negative voltage outputs from a single AC transformer. It will come handy for prototyping analog circuits. Works like a charm on first power up
Schools finally out for the semester! 🎉 🎉
Messaged an author of PyDNet to seek their help in fixing the problems I am having with getting quality depth maps. Also studied how to do kinematic modelling for two-wheeled vehicles which I'll use to steer my robot entirely from its back wheels!
I continued manufacturing face shields for special ed teachers today. I spent a while testing and adjusting the speeds and feeds until I was satisfied, then cut out a bunch of the shields. The only bit I have is an upcut end mill, so I need to use a paint stick and vacuum to hold the material down as it cuts.
