@vik0day 5 of #10-days-in-public. i felt really burnt out with my hall effect pcb so i tried some community outreach! HACKCLUB IS NOW IN THE RABBIT LABS DISCORD SERVER!!!! and i called a bunch of boba shops and starbucks all across the nation for onboard posters! thanks a lot to @zrl@HenHen@BrightLi and everyone who helped call!
@vik0first scrapbook post! thanks so much @zrl for sending out these stickers. Planning on replacing my thinkpad, so application will have to wait
@jaspermayone0Just shipped github.com/jdogcoder/harvest-hackathon-game as part of #harvest! Currently at an semi MVP, and site will 100% crash/error if more than 2 people try to play the game, but essentially you each control a hand, and are trying to get them to link. I have yet to build this in, but you will then have to avoid obstacles for as long as possible. When this was going to tie in with Haunted House, after 30 seconds of avoiding it would redirect to the next haunted house room, but I am going to convert it so its leaderboard based. If you want to attempt, you and a friend can visit harvest-hackathon-game.vercel.app/game. It may crash if others are on, not super sure yet. More refactoring to come shortly. A HUGE thanks to @zrl and @Elliot for their help on this!@Kieran0Sticker Update! thanks to @Hunter and the @zrl for the stickers
@Lucas0Today I had a meeting with Tom Preston-Werner! Thanks Tom and @zrl for making this happen, for the time, for the opportunity, for everthing!
@ValeriiAhin-U04AQ63DBHQ0Got the SineRider posters!!! Thank you so much @zrl !!! Really happy to be a part of this community!
@malted0I've been exploring browser rendering after @zrl mentioned Ladybird, including giving it a shot in Rust.
The internals of SpiderMonkey are especially interesting; Mozilla wrote an overview of how its components work here:
firefox-source-docs.mozilla.org/js/index.html
@cytronicoder0lads, we secured the pog with @zrl (much thanks to @reesericci for his blazingly-fast print screen flick; we now have this eternally fixed in the slack :sphere:)
also, to those who remembers Notify, I found a good excuse to build this in Xcode :flooshed:
@AnkitJha-U04DMEMA9EU0@zrl

@adelly130hosted an AMA session with Zach Latta today at my school’s computer science club! super glad I was able to join from home as I recovered from COVID-19. it was so cool to get to hear what it’s like to work at hack club and what exciting projects he’s working on and to chat with him a little about machine learning! thanks @zrl for the wonderful, insightful session!

The self-stabilizing spoon was my Summer of Making project and now I'm shipping the version 2.0
I tried to reduce the size of the handle and also designed a custom PCB for the same.
I'll ship the final product once the 3D printed case is ready.
Thank you Hack club team and the SOM team.

@akshaygautam0100I was a curious kid, too curious to handle sometimes. But my father knew that I was different than the normal bunch and so he always supported me. I used to buy toys just to disassemble those, I even used to dismantle home appliances and any hardware stuff I could find. Most people thought I'm just a destructive kid ,but my father supported me and then I learned about an equally intresting thing "coding".
My father has too less computer knowledge to understand it, and the few friends I had just didn't care. I felt Alone
But few months ago I discovered a community completely suited for me, full of people like me, full of people better than me. A place where I think I finally belong to, Hack Club.
Happy Birthday and thank you @zrl for everything you have done for everyone, you are awesome 🥳🥳🥳🥳🥳

@winston0found this t shirt today from a whileee back and decided to wear it, it was actually my first ever hackathon (and where i met @zrl + @clairebookwormand a few other hack clubbers)! we didn’t win but we made this system that detects i think breast cancer or some type of cancer, in early stages so you can get treatment before it gets worse.
@sampoder0the sun has set (quite literally now), thank you from the bottom of my heart to everyone who joined the Summer of Making!!! it’s hard to piece together words, so here’s a post i wrote… and the recap site I'm about to ship….
one thing I haven’t done yet is say thank you to a lot of people, so meet my thank you wall:

@lachlanjc0(This photo is the Bloomington HQ’s main room at the beginning of the day.) In between desk assembly & assorted fun times yesterday:
• Worked on Bank v2 product planning with the singular @msw. Came to some great new ideas for cards on Bank I’m really excited to build; essentially, virtual + physical cards for every team member, clearer transaction ownership, simpler ordering & management. Excited to work on some UI prototyping for that today
• Had a wonderful chat with @scott, who’s been working on the Bank backend recently
• Took a walk with @zrl to discuss my work recently & the DNC/RNC & news
• Checked in with @amogh on iPad project
• Shipped a set of small design improvements to Bank
• Embarked on a tale of two packages I hope you’ll discover next week(?) in #scrapbook
Then I made some salmon teriyaki with corn & green beans for dinner with @matthew that was surprisingly good!!
@lachlanjc0Last day in our temporary office today, in Bloomington:
• Ended SoM hardware grants with a wonderful PR from @sampodergithub.com/hackclub/summer-site/pull/57 & gave him feedback on our upcoming homepage by him!!
• Bank: fixed a Transparency Mode bug on the G Suite page
• Bank: reached out to someone I super admire about working on an explorative new project together
• Workshops: in preparation for the new Clubs, standardized our formatting & streamlined authoring open letters github.com/hackclub/workshops/pull/20
• Moved forward on iPad distribution project
• Unblocked @neel.redkar on serverless deployment
• Talked with @michael.destefanis to plan Bank work, @tmb about MacBook project, @msw about Slack comms, then a long chat with @zrl about workflow/responsibilities at HQ
Here’s what @matthew & I made for dinner. Going on a quick weekend trip in the morning!
@mukul-a0It feels so motivating to have a message liked by @zrl
@doreenmwapekatebe80Was learning to draw on a canvas today,so decided to draw the the first name of Zach latta,🤭opps hope spelled it collectly @zrl thanks for hack club(though it didn't come out perfect)
@malte0Damn this was amazing! Thanks for @zrl for the great quote!
@lachlanjc0Every two weeks, @christina695 & @zrl & I write a newsletter to Hack Club’s biggest donors & supporters. Though they look simple, we each spend many hours planning, writing, editing, revising, & testing them. They’ve been an incredibly useful tool for our fundraising, so as we send out new ones, we open source old ones, six weeks behind. Since I’ve been writing our latest issue, I’ve also published our issue from May 20. Here’s a video of the shortcut I made on my iPad to publish!@christina6950Just gettin so technical.....now using VS Code Editor and GitHub Desktop. W tutorials from @zrl & @lachlanjc and from the kitchen @msw thank you! @caleb0I'm sticking this in here 'cause it's not every day @zrl comments on your ship 😊
@lachlanjc0Had a fantastic conversation with @zrl under this tree about my role at Hack Club & recent work. After a long way ending in staying up for 37 hours launching Scrapbook & Summer, nice to take a break.
